Help with last problem..

OpenStudy (destinyyyy):

OpenStudy (destinyyyy):

f(10)- f(0)/ 10-0 = (1.5 square root 10 +28.6) - (1.5 square root 0 +28.6)/ 10-0 Is that correct? Average rate of change was a few units ago. Need a refresher

OpenStudy (destinyyyy):

@Nnesha @phi

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (destinyyyy):

Okay. Next I get rid of the parenthesis and distribute the - correct?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hmmm hold on

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i don't bout this one but i think so i cant be too sure tho

OpenStudy (ankit042):

= 1.5*sqrt(10)

OpenStudy (destinyyyy):

?

OpenStudy (phi):

yes, your idea is correct f(10)- f(0)/ 10-0 or \[ (1.5 \sqrt{10} + 28.6 - 1.5 \sqrt{0} - 28.6)/10 \] notice the constant 28.6 subtracts off also the term 1.5 sqr(0) is just 1.5*0 =0 so it simplifies to \[ 0.15 \sqrt{10}\] now use a calculator or type 0.15*sqrt(10)= into google and round the answer to the nearest 10th

OpenStudy (destinyyyy):

It says .47

OpenStudy (destinyyyy):

How did you get 0.15.. Shouldn't it stay as 1.5?

OpenStudy (destinyyyy):

Final answer .5

OpenStudy (phi):

How did you get 0.15.. Shouldn't it stay as 1.5? the "bottom" is 10 remember? ( f(10) - f(0) )/ (10 -0) the top simplifies to \( 1.5\sqrt{10} \) but we divide that by 10

OpenStudy (destinyyyy):

You put 0.15

OpenStudy (destinyyyy):

I thought it was 1.5. But above you put 0.15

OpenStudy (phi):

yes \[ \frac{1.5\sqrt{10}}{10}= 0.15 \sqrt{10} \]

OpenStudy (destinyyyy):

Ohh okay
