Associative property of addition states: a + (b + c) = (a + b) + c
OpenStudy (liv1234):
@TheSmartOne Can you help me with another question really quick after this one? I just need to double check
TheSmartOne (thesmartone):
You can tell by all the answer choices what the correct answer is.
2 of them say multiplication, but the question has addition.
And I assume you know the distributive property.

@TheSmartOne this is the one I think it's A or B
OpenStudy (liv1234):
And so the answer to that other one would be the Associative Property of Addition?
TheSmartOne (thesmartone):
yes

So, what about the other one?
TheSmartOne (thesmartone):
3x - 3y = 15
Divide both sides by 3
x - y = 5
Now, solve for y :)
OpenStudy (liv1234):
y=x+5?
TheSmartOne (thesmartone):
nope, first add y to both sides
then subtract 5 on both sides :)
OpenStudy (liv1234):
So, y=x-5?

OpenStudy (liv1234):
I know that it can't be addition, so it's definitely not C.
OpenStudy (liv1234):
I feel like it's B. Commutative Property of Multiplication @TheSmartOne
