So before you say "you won't just give me the answer," I really do get this topic. I know all of the properties too. It's just that the formula above doesn't use any of them the way the book demonstrated.

(from google) Multiplication Property of Equality: States that when both sides of an equation are multiplied by the same number, the remaining expressions are still equal. For example: If 5 = 5, then 5 x 2 = 5 x 2.
