Were the Alien and Sedition Acts constitutional or unconstitutional? Did they follow the meaning of the Constitution or did they violate it in some way?

OpenStudy (pokemonfan40):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (pokemonfan40):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well I guess this is what you can look forward to for history in high school cx

OpenStudy (pokemonfan40):

okay

OpenStudy (sophiaholder):

It really is just a matter of opinion. There isn't a definite answer. It states that you cannot not speak out against a government during times of war or bad things about the war effort. TECHNICALLY it is unconstitutional, but it has worked well, in theory. In my personal opinion, it is unconstitutional because of our right to freedom of speech.

OpenStudy (sophiaholder):

That is just the sedition act btw. The first three acts are also unconstitutional.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ahh. Thank you so much.

OpenStudy (sophiaholder):

No problem :)
