OpenStudy (pokiedokie):

Write the equation for the transformation of the graph of y = f(x) 1. translated 5 units right, reflected across the x-axis 2. translated 3 units up, reflected across the y-axis please help!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hi 1 sec let me read the question and see if i can help

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im confused what the question is may i see the graph

OpenStudy (pokiedokie):

that's what I'm confused about too, it doesn't have a graph. It just says to write equations for it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok 1 sec

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is there any answer choices

OpenStudy (pokiedokie):

no, it's all on my review sheet

OpenStudy (pokiedokie):

Okay, i have the second one but I don't understand the 1st one

OpenStudy (badhi):

they are asking to express the transformed graph with the y, and f(x) terms so if you transform it right along the x axis with a units the transformed function will be f(x-a), if you have to reflect around x axis, its -f(x)

OpenStudy (badhi):

if you have to move up along the y axis a units, its f(x) + a and if you have to reflect around y axis its, f(-x)

OpenStudy (pokiedokie):

okay so it would -5 for the units if going along right and then reflecting x-axis would also be negative
