help with finding side of triangle
Bob is driving along a straight and level road straight toward a mountain. At some point on his trip he measures the angle of elevation to the top of the mountain and finds it to be 25°11'. Find the height of the mountain to the nearest foot if Bob is 19,427.5 feet from the center of the mountain at the base.
|dw:1443102710948:dw| opp/adj = tan
what does the 11 in the 25°11' mean then
tan(34 40/60) = h/(x-5280) --- Therefore 0.4748x = 0.69157(x-5280) 0.4748x = 0.69157x-0.09157*5280) --- -0.2168x = -0.09157*5280 --- x = 2230 ft
im confused where did you get the numbers for that
so ht/19427.5 =tan25
yes
what about the 11 in the equation?
after the 25 degrees
it is minutes
tht is divided by the 25
how come were not using it then
and also where did you get the number 5280 @dakid88
you can use it 11/60 and get a decimal
oh i see
so where do i go from here then
get the answer
thats what ive been needing help with
