I have 20 questions but here is the 1st Joseph Priestley discovered and described the chemical properties of oxygen. What type of chemist would he be considered today A) biochemist B)organic chemist C)physical chemist D) inorganic chemist
@Abhisar
I think it should be inorganic chemist.
when placed in a 100 ML square box a substance takes the shape of the box and has a volume of 100 ML. When placed in a 50 ML circular tube, that same substance takes the shape of the tube and has a 50 ML volume. In which of the following states is the substance in A)liquid B)Solid C) gas
What's ur answer ?
@Shalante
I think that it is a liquid
Why?
because liquid can take the shape of each of the shape I think
But as u can see the particular substance has taken the volume of the container right? We know liquids doesn't have a particular shape it takes the shape of the container but it does have a volume. Gases are the ones who doesn't have either a definite volume or a shape.
So the solid could take the shape of the container
summary Solids : Have a definite shape and a volume Liquids : Have a definite volume but no definite shape, it takes the shape of the container. Gases : Gases don't have a definite shape or a volume. They take the shape and the volume of the container.
so it is a solid?
NOOOOO Look it says when u put the particular substance inside a 100mL box it has a volume of 100mL and it takes the shape of the container. And when it is put to a 50mL container it takes 50mL and the shape of the container. As u can see it has no definite shape or a volume The substances that has no definite volume and a shape is gases
so it is a gas because it can change shapes?
both gases and liquids can change their shapes according to the container they are in. Out of those 2 only gases can change their volume. Liquids have particular volume !!!
the next question is Which of the following terms describe carbon tetrachloride (CCL4) A)element B)pure substance C)compound D) mixture
@Rushwr
Can u open up a new question ? Cuz we can't use one question for many !!!!! Close this medal and open up a new one !!
