let's look at the second equation 8x + y = 20 we can solve for y to get: y = 20 - 8x then we can look at our first equation: y = x^2 - 2x + 4 we can set them equal to each other to get: 20 - 8x = x^2 - 2x + 4 know where to go from here?
keep going subtract 20 from each side and factor
yes, so keep going x^2 + 6x - 16 = (x+8)(x-2) so x = -8 and x = 2 now calculate the matching y values
