What are some differences and similarities between the Mongol empire and the Songhai empire about their Religion/Philosophy and their Society

The Mongol Empire, existed during the 13th and 14th centuries and was the largest contiguous land empire in history. Their religion was Buddhism. 

The Songhai Empire, also spelled as the Songhay Empire, was a Songhai state that dominated the western Sahel in the 15th and 16th century. At its peak the empire was one of the largest in African history. Their religion was Islam.
