OpenStudy (olyalhic):

rewrite without parentheses and simplify (5x+6u)^2

OpenStudy (olyalhic):

@misty1212 could you help again on this one?

OpenStudy (olyalhic):

\[(5x + 6u)^{2}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You can foil this (5x + 6u)(5x + 6u), but there's a little bit of a shortcut. Square the first term: \((5x)^2=\) Multiply the 2 terms and double it: \(2(5x)(6u)=\) Square the second term: \((6u)^2=\)

OpenStudy (olyalhic):

so its \[5x ^{2}+6xu+36u ^{2}\]

OpenStudy (olyalhic):

60*

OpenStudy (anonymous):

very close. the 5 should be 25

OpenStudy (olyalhic):

oh okay thank you!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you're welcome
