The panspermia hypothesis states that microscopic life began elsewhere in the universe and was transplanted to primitive earth via meteors or other cosmic debris. It is a theory that is not widely supported by the science community today. (a) Provide evidence that helps to support this hypothesis. (b) Provide the conditions that must have been met for microscopic life to be sustained here on the earth. (c) Based on these conditions, justify why RNA is more suitable than DNA as the first genetic material. (d) Discuss why the formation of membranes helped in the development of more complex life

b.the primitive atmosphere on earth was rich in ammonia , methane and hydrogen. the temperature on earth was very high.under sufficient energy source such as a lightning strike, organic molecules were formed on earth. these include amino acids which is basic structural form of proteins.for such reactions to take place, water was needed as a medium. so , water is the most important condition.this was proved through the urey miller experiment.

c. as the first genetic material , rna is better than dna because it is highly labile. dna is more stable than rna because rna has more oxygen than dna making it more reactive .when it is more reactive, it can easily undergo changes leading to evolution. under the extreme climatic conditions in primitive earth, organism needed to rapidly evolve.
