@abbyfox101 Do you know the difference between a rational number and an irrational number?
that is between*
It is always a good idea to review your lessons before you start an exercise. It will save you time. Try the following if you do not have your notes: https://www.mathsisfun.com/irrational-numbers.html
okay
So @abbyfox101 Is sqrt(81) a rational number? Is sqrt(95) a rational number?
square root 18
@mathmate
What about sqrt(18)?
it's a rational number
It is a rational number if it can be represented exactly by a fraction of integers. If you claim that it is a rational number, you have to be able to do that. I cannot! Can you show me the integer fraction that represents exactly sqrt(18)?
Read https://www.mathsisfun.com/irrational-numbers.html it will hep you understand better, especially with examples.
Ok so it's not \[\sqrt{18}\] ok I got that part it's \[\sqrt{95}\]
@mathmate
So what about sqrt(95)?
This is not a multiple choice question that you have!
Ya I know. So sqrt(95) is a rational number right?
It is a rational number if you can find an integer fraction to represent the number, e.g. 5/6 is a rational number, because it can be represented by a fraction of integers.
ok
