Which of the following best describes the state of self-government in British Colonial America in the 1600s? The colonies were entirely controlled by Britain. Many of the colonies elected representative assemblies. Most of the colonies elected their own governors. The colonies were completely free to govern themselves.

The colonies were entirely controlled by Britain, because the British parliament had no colonial representatives

Even though there was some sort of self-government, the British still had the final say over crucial things (colonial taxes, trade, ...)
