OpenStudy (dragon123mama):

I always give medals. Why would a diverse population be more resistant to disease, predation, and invasion?

OpenStudy (dragon123mama):

How do invasive species change the diversity index?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A diverse population would be more resistent because, the number of species can help with the predators, resistent to desiece because of high tolerance, this diversity helps them out-compete other invasive species.

OpenStudy (dragon123mama):

okay thanks.. ill give u a medal if you can answer the second question as well

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Inavasive species invade so in doing so it adds diversity to an ecosystem.

OpenStudy (dragon123mama):

but why does it add diversity.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Because it introduces more living species.

OpenStudy (dragon123mama):

i need a much more explained answer. like u had in the first one.. a good detailed explination is what works with me.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay then that is what I will give you. It all depends on the ability of the inavasive species to adopt a new territory. If they adapt well to it then the diversity index species would then decline and the diversity of the inavasive species would increase. Is that better?

OpenStudy (dragon123mama):

that is much better thanks.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No problemo!
