What do historians study when attempting to make connections between ancient civilizations and world cultures of today? birth rates nuclear families death rates cultural hearths

cultural hearths i think

Birth and Death rates can be used for comparing the living standard, while cultural hearths allow us to compare morals of societies. Nuclear families are totally irrelevant to this question, because they are singularly modern phenomena. Because of that the best answer would be cultural hearths, because they tell us what is important to one civilization and to the other and thus compare them.
