name the property of equality or congruence that justifies going from the first statement to the second statement. ST=QR QR=ST a) reflexive property of congruence b) symmetric property of congruence c) transitive property of congruence d) substitution property of congruence

OpenStudy (danjs):

If A = B Then B = A

OpenStudy (danjs):

look up the definitions for those properties

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i dont get it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what school do you go to

OpenStudy (anonymous):

connexus

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well i can give you a hint; its not d

OpenStudy (danjs):

They give you a statement in the form, IF A = B ; THEN B = A

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but i dont get it

OpenStudy (danjs):

look at the definition for symmetric property of equality here http://www.mathwords.com/e/equation_rules.htm

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (danjs):

you see what it means, like a mirror at the equals sign reflecting the equation around symmetrically just flip er over

OpenStudy (danjs):

which does not change anything

OpenStudy (danjs):

ST = QR ; QR = ST

OpenStudy (danjs):

same

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@DanJS

OpenStudy (danjs):

oh, i said symmetric property

OpenStudy (danjs):

If you have something like ST = QR if you apply the symmetric property (just flip it over the equals sign), you get QR = ST Which is what they want you to show.
