Express 9x^2+12x+7 in the form of (ax+b)^2 + c

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

Okay, you need to find values \(a,b,c\) such that \[(ax+b)^2+c = 9x^2 + 12x + 7\] Why don't you start by expanding \((ax+b)^2\). What do you get? Now pick a value of \(a\) so that the term on the left with \(x^2\) in it is equal to the term on the right with \(x^2\) in it.
