Part A: What is the most likely value of the correlation coefficient of the data in the table? Based on the correlation coefficient, describe the relationship between time and velocity of the toy car. (4 points) [Choose the value of correlation coefficient from −1, 1, −0.04, 0.99] Part B: What is the value of the slope of the graph of velocity versus time between 10 minutes and 20 minutes, and what does the slope represent? (3 points) Part C: Does the data in the table represent correlation or causation? Explain your answer. (3 points)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i have part C is 0 correlation but im stuck on part A and B

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i need help on part B only

@amistre64

OpenStudy (amistre64):

what does the slope between 2 points represent? what are your thoughts?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

time?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

i was thinking more of an average of something ...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh like 15?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry im really confused

OpenStudy (amistre64):

the slope between 2 points provides us with an average rate of change. in this case, its the average rate of change with respect to velocity

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so it represent the velocity??

OpenStudy (amistre64):

the rate of change in velocity is defined as acceleration.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

m/s ---- = m/s^2 s

OpenStudy (amistre64):

but that is a physics thing, not sure how it applies to statistics tho

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so the answer would be the acceleration?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

the average acceleration ... would be my best guess. if its correct or not i would not know.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you so much

OpenStudy (amistre64):

good luck
