Please help! Mika’s gym allows her to bring 3 guests for free. After the first three, she must pay $7 per guest. How many guests, g, can she bring to the gym if she pays $42? Three of these equations give the correct value of g. Which equation does NOT? a)7g=63 b)7g-3=42 c)7(g-3)=42 d)g=9

am i allowed to just give the answer as i explain it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sure, that's fine

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay, so we take d, and say g = 9. multiply 9 by 7. this equals 63. if you subtract three at this point, your final answer would be 60 instead of 42 like it should be. therefore, b is the correct answer by being the incorrect equation

make sense?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh, yes that does make sense, thank you

my pleasure.
