Many of Poor Richard’s Aphorisms convey moral lessons. Restate the aphorism, "No gains without pains," in your own words, explaining its moral lesson. [ It simply means, you will not succeed in any endeavor if you don't work, persist or persevere to achieve it. Its like no pain no glory.
Explain what is meant by the figurative language in the aphorism, "A small leak will sink a great ship."
It means that a small problem can ruin or damage something big
It means that even small faults, if left unattended, can have very serious consequences just as a small leak will eventually let in so much water that even a large ship will sink. Something small can have a big effect A small leak (small problem) can grow bigger and bigger if you don't fix it. So basically if you have a problem but you don't do anything about it, it will get worse and kick you back later on, except it'll be a bigger problem. Or it means that if you don't work well with a group of people and you disagree with them, then you could be the little leak, and you will sink the project - mess it up - for all the rest of the people. Small flaws can spell mayhem for great things. Just as a little water dripping into the hold of a ship will eventually fill it up and sink the ship. A little lie may cause a big problem A small leak (small problem) can grow bigger and bigger if you don't fix it. So basically if you have a problem but you don't do anything about it, it will get worse and kick you back later on, except it'll be a bigger problem. Or it means that if you don't work with a group of people and you are disagreeing with them than you will be the little leak and you will sink the project or mess up the project for all the rest of the people.
