If trapezoid ABCD was reflected over the y-axis, reflected over the x-axis, and rotated 180°, where would point A' lie?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(1,-1) (-4,1) (1,1) (-4,-1)

@mathmate can u help me

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@cliffordtapp could u try to help me

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i got the answer its ( -4, 1)

OpenStudy (mathmate):

(-4,1) is correct. Reflection of an object about the x- and y-axes is equivalent to a rotation of 180 degrees. In addition, rotation of 180 degrees is it's own inverse (just like reflections), so the point has basically done a rotation of 180 degrees, and then had an inverse of 180 degrees, and come back to the original position.

ya i looked at other ones but it showed they had 1, -1 but i retraced my steps

OpenStudy (mathmate):

Yes, following each step of the transformations is the safetest way to go!.

ya but thx anyway
