OpenStudy (supernaturallvr24):

Which of these parts of the atom is directly involved in chemical changes? A.electron B.nucleus C.neutron D.proton

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Fairly certain it's the electron, since that's what is given/shared in reactions.

OpenStudy (supernaturallvr24):

OK thanks, I'll let you know if it is.

OpenStudy (photon336):

@Supernaturallvr24 to be more specific and to add to @b_schu's answer. the valence electrons are the electrons that are involved in the chemical reaction. you might ask why? well it's because consider this the nucleus is positively charged in the center. electrons are most likely to be found in orbitals and shells. the farther you get from the nucleus, the nucleus has a less pull on the electrons. and the valence electrons the farthest away from the nucleus are the lest tightly bound by the nucleus and participate in chemical reactions hope this is helpful. |dw:1443489170727:dw|

OpenStudy (supernaturallvr24):

It was electron. Thanks people!!
