They lost everyday supplies and cotton became scarce because slaves were escaping. They have don't have good medicine, and are starving do to lack of resources. They don't have good army supplies. biggest thing is cause of the disease. The Union Army would always take from them the army also cut down trees, burned barns, homes, and killed livestock.
