Can someone check if this sentence is correctly punctuated?

OpenStudy (jojokiw3):

Optimism left me a thought, "Maybe it will not be so bad," before he deserted me; not even he desired to be here in this scalding inferno.

not even he desired to be here (pause) in this scalding inferno

OpenStudy (jojokiw3):

OpenStudy (jojokiw3):

Oh okay, so the sentence is grammatically correct?

OpenStudy (shadowlegendx):

OpenStudy (jojokiw3):

Thanks!
