MATH HELP ASAPS! FAN AND MEDAL?!?! PROMISE?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hi

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and the question is ?

OpenStudy (b.r):

Hello. I have a question; What is the sum?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

31 over 20

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Or it could be 1 11/20

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you want mixed number or simplified form?

OpenStudy (b.r):

I got 31 / 20 too.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\frac{ 31 }{ 20} \]

OpenStudy (b.r):

Simplified.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then it would be 1 11/20

OpenStudy (b.r):

Oh! Can you explain why tho?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you have 31 over 20, how many times does 20 go into 31 evenly?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well 20 (20 is your denominator) goes into 31 (31 is your numerator) only one time... So, that one time that 20 goes into 31 would be the 1 you see in front of your fraction. Then, if you subtract 20 from 31, there is 11 left and that would be your new numerator, 11 is a prime number so you cannot simplify it anymore. Does that make sense?

OpenStudy (b.r):

Oh! I get it now.

OpenStudy (b.r):

@maddi4611 But- mistake. 31/ 20. So, I'mma go with that one.
