slope intercept form of line parallel to the line y=-2x+1 passing through point (6,3)

Nnesha (nnesha):

what's the slope of y=-2x+1 line ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-2

Nnesha (nnesha):

right so parallel lines should have the same slope new equation would be y=-2x+b to find y-intercept replace x and y with the given other pair then solve for b

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what do you mean replace x and y?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Nnesha

Nnesha (nnesha):

this is the slope intercept form y =mx+b (where m=slope , b=y-intercept ) we know parallel lines would have the same slope so we can substitute m for -2 y=-2x+b to find y-intercept substitute (x,y) for (6,3)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you

Nnesha (nnesha):

got it ?? :=)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes thank you

Nnesha (nnesha):

np :=)
