Using complete sentences, analyze the effects of the zebra mussel on the Great Lakes.

OpenStudy (kristen.4):

At some time in the mid-1980s, a ship brought the zebra mussel species to Detroit, which is located on Lake Erie. Because the Great Lakes are connected by waterways, the zebra mussel infested other lakes. As often happens when non-native species are introduced to new habitats, the zebra mussel crowded out other species, devastating their populations. This is an example of how human decisions and creations, such as building waterways, creating harbors, and crafting built environments, can affect a region's natural environment (its native plants and animals and its climate).
