PLEASE HELP!! MEDAL!! One estimate of the population of the world on January 1,2005, is 6,486,915,022. The population is estimated to be increasing at the rate of 1.4% per year. At this rate, what will the population of the world be on January 1, 2025? Round your answer to the nearest whole number. a.8,566,379,470 b.8,303,251,228 c.7,395,083,125 d.9,015,426,574

OpenStudy (kva1992):

Answer is b.

OpenStudy (kva1992):

let me explain how i got there now it states you are increasing at 1.4% per year and the year is starting from 2005 and you are trying to figure out what it would be at 2025

OpenStudy (kva1992):

so the first thing you would do is multiply 20 years(difference from 2005 to 2025) by 1.4% which will give you 28% then you would multiply that by the current population which is 6,486,915,022 and that will give you 1,816,336,206 and last but not least add that to your 6,486,915,022 and that will give you the answer b.

OpenStudy (kva1992):

if you have any questions just ask and ill do my best to clear it up

OpenStudy (anonymous):

basically you add the previous year's population to 1.4% (.0014) times the previous population the answer is 8303251228.16 (or 8303251228)

OpenStudy (kva1992):

that's essentially what you are doing but rather than doing all that adding various amount of times just calculate the difference between the years and multiply it based on the constant fluctuation
