OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yup

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Any second opinions?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think you're right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks ;)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@pooja195

OpenStudy (liv1234):

Yes, you are correct.

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

Yes, that is correct. 0.079 is closer to 0.1 than it is to 0.0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay ty

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

just like 79 is closer to 100 than to 0

OpenStudy (katnissstyles000):

yes u r right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay thanks i have more

OpenStudy (freckles):

65.079 the 0 is in the tenths place you use the number in the hundredths place to decide what to do with that 0 you know leave as 0 or bump to 1 (dropping everything else to the right of that digit) the number in the hundredths place is 7 since 7 is a number greater than or equal to 5 that means we bump the number up so 65.079 rounded to the nearest tenths is 65.1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Im really bad at this :/

OpenStudy (freckles):

so you were right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Round the number to the thousandths place. 47,268.568593 A. 47,268.568 B. 47,268.569 C. 48,000 D. 47,000

OpenStudy (anonymous):

O.O

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

identify the place you want to round to. then look at the digit to the right of that. If it is 0,1,2,3,4, just copy the numbers through the place where you are rounding. If it is 5,6,7,8,9, you copy the numbers through the place where you are rounding, but you add 1 to the place where you round. Note that this may cause you to have to change the other digits you copied as well... 23.45 round to the nearest 10th: copy 23.4, look at the 5 in the 100th place, it is one of 5,6,7,8,9 so you round up and final answer is 23.5 23.497 round to the nearest 100th: copy 23.49, look at the 7 in the 1000th place, it is one of 5,6,7,8,9 so you round up but here the previous digit was a 9, so our adding one causes previous digits to change as well: 23.49 .01 ----- 23.50 so 23.50 is 23.497 rounded to the nearest 100th

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Wow thanks (:

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

round 47,268.568593 to the 1000ths place: 47268.568 look at the 5 in the 10000ths place, we need to round up 47268.568 + 0.001 ----------- 47268.569 is our answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you

OpenStudy (anonymous):

B

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i got a few more

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if you wanna help......ima open new questions so i can give u metals

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

another way to do it is to add 5 to place beyond where you are rounding, then just chop off the digits beyond the place where you round: I'll do that same problem this way: 47268.568593 we want to round to the place containing the 8, so we add 5 to the next place: 47268.568593 + 0.000500 ------------- 47268.569093 now we just copy the digits we need: 47268.569 is our answer, just like we got before

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So its B

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

If B is the answer that has 47268.569 next to it, then yes. I'm less concerned with helping you mark the right answer, only with helping you find the right answer :-)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes you have helped me :) thank you

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Can you help me with a few more?

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

sure, if you work them I will check them. you won't be helped nearly as much if I just do them...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ima close the question so its not so laggy with all the other comments

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

ok, just tag me on the new one with @whpalmer4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok
