Read the following from the Mayflower Compact: “Having-undertaken for the glory of God, and advancements of the Christian faith and honor of our king and country, a voyage to plant the first Colony in the Northern parts of Virginia...” Why do you think the colonists mentioned God’s glory before the king’s honor?

because they believed god came first and the king came second, since the reason they left was to worship freely they did not see the king as the biggest importance...also because they believed god helped them get there safely...so they glorified him....
