If she has 2.5% salt and water that has 3.7% salt, how many gallons of the water with 3.7% salt content should she use

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lets call the amount of \(3.7\%\) salt water \(x\) since that is what you are trying to find

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and since the total is \(20\) that means the amount of \(2.5\%\) solution is \(20-x\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait, i cant understand why amount of 3.7% salt water is x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the total amount of salt you want is \(3.5\%\) of \(20\) which is \(.035\times 20=.7\) ok lets back up

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what are you asked at the end of the question?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i mean that what is the thing that the problem is asking about
