In Spanish is very common to use double negatives, as: "Yo no quise nada". You're saying: "I didn't want anything", but everyone can understand "I didn't want something" with this sentence. Another example: "Tú no has ido nunca.", translated is: "You haven't never been there". What people understand: "You've never been there". If you analize these examples, you have your answer.
