A and B are not correct so the answers are C and D.

The answer actually would not be D, because the British soldiers did not want to fight the American colonist, they found it to be a waste of time over the years. Holding America together was already hard enough since they were practically a rebellious teenager.   So the answer is: C 

Only because the British do eventually give up on the war due to it just costing to much money and it wasn't really worth it to the current king at the time.
