any mechanical engineers here who wanted to help me in my little problem? help please :D
so we are doing a research about biogas extracting machine particularly cow dung methane extractor. me and my group mates can't decide on the dimensions to use for our Biogas Digester. I found a website: http://collections.infocollections.org/ukedu/en/d/Jg32bie/6.3.html it has the dimensions, the volume they used for the tank and almost all of the important datas. there, you will see this figure below. our version of our biogas digester is also horizontal. I want to base our design from the website MY PROBLEM IS this: We want to put stirrer inside the digester but will it AFFECT the volume of the slurry needed? like for example, Vd is 9m^3 and Vg= 3m^3, will it change if we put stirrer in it? i know this has an obvious answer but i just wanna know more. :D please someone answer!
@surry99
hi Question 1) What do you hope to gain by using a stirrer? Think very carefully about this. Question 2) What would the volume of the proposed stirrer be? Perhaps do a search on line for the sort of stirrer you are thinking of and see if you can determine its volume. Question 3) How does the volume of the stirrer compare to Vd and Vg? Can the volume of stirrer be ignored? Just a start...
Bio digester is basically a big bucket type ,depends upon usage ,
