Is "It resembled, from the outside, a castle or fort..." a metaphor? If not what figurative language type is it? Thanks!

This is not an example of a metaphor, as a metaphor is explicitly saying that something IS another thing. For example: "He is a proud peawingspan". A simile however is saying that something is LIKE something else. For example: "He is as proud as a peawingspan". This is why I am more inclined to say that it is a simile, if anything, but I am not 100% sure. There could be some other figure of speech I am not aware of. But if nothing else, you at least know what a metaphor is now!

By peawingspan Im sure you realize I mean the peafowl. You know, the big blue bird with eyeball tail feathers.
