How has technology affected music creation in the 20th century and in pop music?
@breezymeetee
the 20th century of the 21st century? because the 20th century is the 1900's
It made recording music and distributing it on a large scale possible, which basically was how popular music was invented. People who think technology ruined music are missing the point. Electric guitars and multi-track recording are technology, so unless you listen to trad-folk (more power to you, trad-folk is great) you probably like technology in your music. Electronic music began in the realm of avant-garde music long before it seeped into pop music. Knowledgeable composers realized that "real" instruments are neither necessary not particularly desirable in the 1950s, the common classic rock elitist has yet to catch up. Pink Floyd is notorious for the technology they used in the studio, and their use of sound effects and tape loops. Hardly the band to listen to if you want "realism."
