ok doing the quadratic formula i need to know how to solve for t 20=-16t^2+30t+4 don't want the answer just want to know how to solve

18,1.153253

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can someone please tell me how to solve for t? :(

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you for the answer but i have to show my work i just need to know what steps to take

OpenStudy (amistre64):

what is your quadratic formula?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

h=-16t^2+vt+s

OpenStudy (amistre64):

thats not a quadratic formula, that a quadratic equation ...

OpenStudy (amistre64):

given the quadratic equation: ax^2 + bx + c = 0 the roots of the equation, the solution for the x values are: \[x=\frac{-b\pm\sqrt{b^2-4ac}}{2a}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok but how do i solve? this

OpenStudy (amistre64):

20 = -16t^2+30t+4 id first make it equal to 0, then define your values for a,b, and c

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok but i have to find t i dont want the answer i just want to know how to do it myself

OpenStudy (amistre64):

then work the process, make the equation equal to 0 to start with

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-16t^2+30t+(4-20)=0 A = -16 B = 30 C= -16 plug into formula shown above and solve.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

we could divide it all by 16 as well and get the same results :) but thats just a side note

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thank you both for the help
