What are the discontinuities of the function f(x) = the quantity x squared minus 16 over the quantity 4x minus 24 x ≠ − 4 x ≠ 4 x ≠ − 6 x ≠ 6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Discontinuity is where the graph is defined near a cetain point but not at the exact point. Basically the discontinuity is at the number which makes the function undefined in this case you take the denominator 4x-24 and see which value makes it zero. So you can do 4x-24=0 and solve for x which equals 6. So the graph is discontinuous at 6.
