Exponents question.... Question will be given below

OpenStudy (calculusxy):

\[\frac{ -2a^3b^{-2}a^4 }{ (-a^2b^{-1})^2 }\]

OpenStudy (calculusxy):

okay so here's my work...

OpenStudy (calculusxy):

\[\frac{ -2a^3b^{-2}a^4 }{ -a^4b^{-2} }\implies \frac{ -2a^7b^{-2} }{ a^4b^{-2} }\implies -2a^{11}\]

OpenStudy (calculusxy):

Sorry but i have to go eat dinner

OpenStudy (calculusxy):

can you just check my work and i will look at it asap

Vocaloid (vocaloid):

almost, just two small mistakes

Vocaloid (vocaloid):

first mistake is the denominator (-a^2*b^-1)^2 = a^2*b^-4 the negative sign cancels out, since (-1)^2 = 1

Vocaloid (vocaloid):

second mistake is a^7/a^4 = a^3, not a^11 (subtract the exponents)

OpenStudy (calculusxy):

@Vocaloid So would 2a^3 be correct?

Vocaloid (vocaloid):

almost, -2a^3

OpenStudy (calculusxy):

yeah sorry about that.. it was a typo so -2a^3 is correct right?

Vocaloid (vocaloid):

yes
