-5x - 12 > 3 --- add 12 to both sides -5x > 3 + 12 -5x > 15 -- now divide both sides by 5, and change the inequality sign x < -3 since there is no equal sign, it is an open circle.....and since it is less then, it is shaded to the left. So.....it is true
