Factor. a)2x^2+10x+8 b)3x^2+12x-63 c)2x^2-15x+7

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a)2(x2+5x+4) 2(x+4)(x+1) b)3(x2+4x-21) 3(x+7)(x-3) c)2x2-15x+7 (2x-1)(x-7)

OpenStudy (shelby1290):

@CasidyCat how did you get those answers? Can you please show your work?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sure! Although explaining one will do the rest. For the first one, you find a common factor between all of the coefficients which was 2. I divided 2 out of all the coefficients leaving me with x2+5x+4. To find the simplified form, you use 5 and 4. The two numbers after the x in the solution must add up to 5 and be factors of 4. 4*1=4 and 4+1=5 so the solution was 2(x+4)(x+1). Does this help??
