Briefly explain what is happening at each step of the process. Be sure to identify each substances shown in each step of the process.

OpenStudy (kaitlyn_nicole):

I understand enzymes and whatnot, but this question really confuses me.

OpenStudy (kaitlyn_nicole):

@AlexandervonHumboldt2

OpenStudy (alexandervonhumboldt2):

oh sorry but i dont know as well

OpenStudy (kaitlyn_nicole):

ooh, okay, thanks anyway!

OpenStudy (rushwr):

I think A is the active site B is the substrate C and D are products

OpenStudy (rushwr):

It looks like the lock and key mechanism isn't it ?

OpenStudy (kaitlyn_nicole):

yeah it is, but is it like taking something in, making something new, then pushing it back out? like what is it doing?

OpenStudy (kaitlyn_nicole):

also i have 2 more questions pertaining to this diagram, do you think you could help? ill post them in separate questions so you can get more metals if you like?

OpenStudy (rushwr):

The active site of the enzyme combines with the substrate to form a enzyme substrate complex. Which is short live. And that complex breaks down on to products as seen in the 2nd picture . Then the products leave the active site without changing the enzyme and making the active site free to react with a new substrate. Did u get it ?

OpenStudy (kaitlyn_nicole):

OOOOOOOOH i remember learning about this! Its releasing the energy when your body needs it, right?

OpenStudy (rushwr):

products can be anything yeah some what like that :)

OpenStudy (kaitlyn_nicole):

thank you! can you help with 2 more questions? then ill get out of your hair :p

OpenStudy (rushwr):

LOL I'll have to see the question first :p

OpenStudy (rushwr):

And ur welcome ! :)
