How does substance A affect the amount of activation energy needed by the process?
@Rushwr
is it because it increases the activation energy?
No actually it decreases the activation energy . Enzyme is a catalyst right? So they increase the rate of a reaction. Enzymes increase the rate of the reaction by reducing the activation energy needed for the chemical reaction without being used up during the reaction. Activation energy is the energy needed to start a reaction. The greater the activation energy the lower the rate of reaction.
Did u get it ?
ooh okay I get it, so the answer would be that it decreased the activation energy?
thanks again! one more question, if you dont mind
Yeah Is this a multiple choice question ? If not u can write it like this. Enzyme is a catalyst. So it increases the rate of reaction by reducing the activation energy and also without being consumed during the reaction :)
No problem I will Check the other one too :)
