Write an equation of the line that passes through (8, 3) and (4, 3). A. y = 3 B. y = 4x + 3 C. y = 4 D. y = 3x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

first find the slope of this line: \[m=\frac{ y_2-y_1 }{ x_2-x_1 }\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think it's C not sure if that's right

OpenStudy (yoloshroom):

(y2-y1)/(x2-x1) so 8 = x1 , 3 =y1, 4=x2, 3=x2 Then input into y=mx+b and use b=3 for the y intercept

OpenStudy (yoloshroom):

3=y2*

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[m=\frac{ 3-3 }{ 4-8 }=0\]

OpenStudy (yoloshroom):

yup!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so ? would that just be D?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

?

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

a method I'd recommend for this question is to plot the points |dw:1444158707262:dw| and then you would see its a horizontal line... and would avoid the need for calculations... and D is incorrect you need to know horizontal lines have a zero slope...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what would it be ?
