A carbohydrate molecule is?

OpenStudy (shikamaru11):

it is a hydrated carbon general formula (CH2O)n it hydrolyse to produce glucose Aldo and keto forms........... glucose and fructose are examples respectively........ (greek word Sakron=saccharides meaning sugar) three types Monosaccharides (sweet can't be hydrolysed simplest carbohydrates e.g glucose) oligo or disaccharides (less sweet and can be hydrolysed e.g sucrose) polysaccharides (tasteless can be hydrolysed e.g starch cellulose glycogen etc)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Carbohydrates (also called saccharides) are molecular compounds made from just three elements: carbon, hydrogen and oxygen. Monosaccharides (e.g. glucose) and disaccharides (e.g. sucrose) are relatively small molecules. They are often called sugars. Just think of sugar.
