Fe + CUCl2 = FeCl2 + CU what is the total ionic equation vs the net ionic equation?

OpenStudy (hlilly2413):

Without doing this for you: 1. the total ionic equation is going to be the equation that lists all ions and their charges present... 2. the net ionic equation is going to be ONLY the components that change-so don't write down parts of the equation that don't change from the product side to the reactant side **(Ex: if you have 3Na-(aq) on the reactant side AND 3Na-(aq) on the product side you do not have to write it when you copy the net ionic equation).
