Course is 2/5 miles long Blake completed 4 laps in 12 minutes. What is his average speed around the track

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Average speed is defined as distance traveled over the time it took to travel that distance. In other words \[Speed=\frac{ Distance }{ Time }\] So how do we get distance? Well we know that the course is 2/5 miles long. And we know that he runs this distance 4 times. Therefore, his total distance is 8/5 (I multiplied by 4). Therefore, our equation now becomes: \[Speed=\frac{ \frac{ 8 }{ 10 } }{ 12 }=0.06667...miles/minute\]
