Haha, well your guess was correct. You are right to suggest that the y-intercept is -1/2. When we look on the graph for x=0, we find where y=-1/2 and we can start from there. After that, we look at the slope, which is 3. We can read this as 3/1, which, when we graph, we say "Up 3 and over 1." So we go up 3 from -1/2 and over 1 to the right.
