Why the mass of a rusted nail would be greater than the mass of the nail before it rusted. Assume that all the rust is still attached to the nail.

Rust happens when a metal oxidizes. Oxidized metal has bonded to nearby O2 in the air. Now that you have oxygen atoms bound to the metal, it has gained some mass - the mass of those oxygen atoms.
