please help, will medal and fan
I need help with the second page with the graph/chart
Are you still here? I can walk you through this.
yes @Jadedry
Alright, for question 1: second page. Do you want to know the deer increase or why the deer population increased?
for number one I just put 95 thousand for my answer
idk, I cant think straight so im desperate to get this done .-. and this looks easy but im overwhelmed
I understand the brain haze, take a deep breath, I will help you through this. c:
95000 looks about right, if you want to split hairs I suppose you could say 92500, (since they ask for the deer increase a year later) but I don't think that should be a problem.
As for deer popualtion increase. The first paragraph says "Field studies have shown that predators keep the size of a prey population within the carrying capacity of an area" Hunters started hunting the predators, so?
I mean, I kinda get it
That's good. c: What specifically are you having trouble with then? (responses may be delayed :c)
I just don't have the motivation to do this worksheet and its due and it'd probably help if you walked me through it .-. sounds lame and stupid I know
No, I understand, it's fine. I will help you, but you need to push as well, we can do this. c: So, for Q.1 you already wrote down the deer increase. Now you need to write down why, hunters reduced the population of predators. Unfortunately the reduction in predators increased the number of prey, as they were not being hunting by their natural enemies any more.
Q.2 There was a 60k decrease in deer between 1923 and 1926. Write this and the ones below as a percentage. (the initial number is 100 so this should be simple) There was an 80k decrease in deer between 1923 and 1931. There was an approx 90k decrease in deer. You could also write 88.75k decrease, but 90k should suffice. Q.3 Why did the deer starve after their population exploded? Remember that deer are not at the bottom of the food chain. Q.4 Remember that deer decimated the plant populations, reducing the carrying capacity of the land.
okay so for number 3, wouldn't it be because over population and competition for food. especially because its in winter there would be less food available. right? I don't know cause I don't get why they would starve it says the pateau supplied enough food to support the growth.
@Jadedry
That is correct, it would be over-population + competition. The plateau could sustain 100k deer, but the number would continue to expand. Eventually the deer would no longer have food to eat because the plateau could not sustain past 100k. c:
so is that answer kinda connected to the 4th question? because I don't know if understand what its asking .-.
It is connected a little bit. Plants need to replenish themselves, but the population growth of the deer reduced plant levels so much so that it reduced the lands carrying capacity. My guess is that because so many plants were eaten it, they could not repopulate as quickly.
